Mr. M.M. Abdul Raheem

Consul General of Sri Lanka, Dubai & Northern Emirates

Mr. Abdul Raheem joined the foreign trade service in 1991 as Assistant Director of Commerce in the Department of Commerce. As a career commercial diplomat he has worked in Sri Lanka Missions in Karachchi (Pakistan) as Head of Trade Commissioner’s Office, Moscow (Russian Federation) as Head of Commercial Section, Mumbai (India) as Consul General and Frankfurt (Germany) as Head of Commercial and Economic Division.

At the Headquarters in Colombo, he has worked in different Divisions which included Trade Promotion, Bilateral, Regional, Multilateral / WTO section.

Mr. Abdul Raheem graduated in Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons - 2nd Class Upper Division) from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka and completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Trade Policy at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. He has undergone a number of overseas training programme on international trade and related subjects and participated as a member of the Sri Lankan Government delegation in various bilateral, regional and multilateral meetings in connection with Sri Lanka’s foreign trade relations.

Mr. Abdul Raheem assumed duties as the Consul General of Sri Lanka for Dubai and Northern Emirates in January 2011.
